An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow
confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.

Jackson Heights Neighborhood

I have lived in Jackson Heights for almost two years. Jackson Heights is part of Queens. In Queens around 50-55% of its inhabitants are Hispanics, and mostly Colombians live in Jackson Heights.

In Jackson Heights, but more extensively in all Queens area, we can find diversity of ethnicities, languages, religious beliefs, cultures and foreign food. People from Dominican Republic, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, etc gather in Queens.
In Queens people work hard, and they try to improve their life every day. The Hispanic community contributes to develop this country. Most Hispanic family members attend the school and get at least one job at the same time.

My neighborhood has plenty of brave and happy people. In the summer time you find streets busier than usual. A lot of stores and restaurants are crowded all of the time. You can see many people walking and shopping around, beautiful women dressing informal clothing because of tropical weather, and children enjoying a delicious ice cream.

Jackson Heights and whole Queens have as the main form of transportation the 7 train. Thousands of people use this way to get their jobs, school and go back home. I like my neighborhood because I can meet happy people. I can get diversity of Hispanic food, I can find items and products from all foreign and local regions.
Enthusiasm and good attitude are the most important values of Hispanic community where I live. I am bound Latinos is an huge asset to New York and along the united States. The worst could be lack of use of the English language.
Visit Queens!
